/diy/ im currently finding out how i can make an awesome computer chair and desk.... can anyone share. some tips.
Basicly i want to make an awesome battle station.

I would like to know what people are looking for in a entertainment center and desk.

Oh I'm interested in the same, except as basic as possible.

a couch with the computer on a table sitting beside the armrest, arm hangs off of armrest and onto table where mouse is, so u can lounge like a boss and still surf

i hope u can visualize that.. i just realized how hard it is to describe my setup... chillin on a couch beats any computer chair i've sat in

Ive been looking up how to do Upholster among other things.

>> No.107967

I'd recommend against making a chair. A table only needs to be at the right height in order to not fuck up your muscular and skeletal systems. A chair is a little more complicated. Remember, you're going to be using this thing for hours at a time.

Table is easy. Can't beat a big, flat, open space. Fuck draws and slide-out shelves. Those things are for peasants.

As for a desk i guess i could end up making a very hardy desk with some organization and i want to avoid drawers but i like shelves and such.

That's pretty much what they did actually. I'll only be able to fix this when somehow I manage to move out.

Cable management is the only organisation you want to have to worry about with your desk. Get a rack bolted up underneath it to keep your cables tidy and off the floor.

I wouldn't bother with putting a hole in the table to put cables through. No matter how hard you think about it, they're never in the right spot. You could go for a gutter-type shelf on the back of the desk for your cables to sit in. So that they run off the back of the desk, into the gutter.

The biggest thing you need to think about it keeping it clean. Nothing ruins an awesome desk like having garbage, clutter, bowls, plates and glasses left all over it.

Did this a while back:

Go to your local non-profit and see if they have solid wood doors (flat ones). Pick one up for about 5 dollars - bonus if it's a flat color so you can paint over it.

Go to lowe's and get about 10 cinder blocks.

Create a table.

The thing will be sturdy as hell, huge for everything you need and can be easily moved when you need.

The whole thing can be done for about $15.

It's for RF shielding.

Ever wonder why none of the big OEMs offer machines with acrylic windows? They'd be illegal to sell because they'd fail certification.

The only reason you can even get a third-party case with a giant hole in the side is because the case by itself doesn't require the certification that a complete computer does.

if i run my pc with the case open and my router say 5' away [behind/above] from it, will it affect the transmittion? ditto the reception of the wifi dongle plugged into the front of my pc?

this is pertinent to my interests too, can you suggest a search term or something? how much did the sheet of glass cost; how comfortable is it [i'm guessing it can get quite cold at times?] is it fixed to the table or does the weight keep it in place?

The guy you're responding too is technically correct but a fucking idiot about it.

There are certain regulations (FCC) for emissions and a shipped product has to meet those. However, if the PC meets them and the case meets them, and they're not sold assembled, it's not an issue. Though it legally falls onto the consumer to control their emissions if making modifications like that.

Now, the reason why that guy is a FUCKING IDIOT is because he seems to think errant signals bus lines and clocks in a PC will interfere with anything at any real distance. That's because despite a slight apparent knowledge, wouldn't know the inverse square law if it walked up and cockslapped him.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S39869711/ - see them legs? get 'em, they're bought separately. Not entirely sure if they're the same as here in Sweden (Ikea is very very big here, physically, that is. We have a lot of things you don't I assume..)

then I use a normal shelf thingy like this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50178779/ for the monitors to stand upon.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S99851435/ - I use this table in 2 different sizes for my L shaped "battlestation", I only use different sizes so that it'd fit into my room, it's customizable. I screwed them together like img.

Everything is makeable with different parts, there's plenty on Ikea, and plenty that you can make yourself.
