you should be able to run a long cable, just make sure it is thick, like 13A mains cable. there's a slight change it might introduce some resistance that could cause you problems but with a longer cable that resistance will be lessened.

ok, doable, and you should go for it, but how deep are we going here?
are you going to use discrete transistors to build the logic gates?
are you going for a simple digital system or a full blown cpu with all the characteristics of a modern computer?

I will share the story of my biggest fuck up in the first two weeks working as a handyman at a 5 star hotel.
>start new job
>for some reason, big boss of the whole hotel company is present for a few weeks
>"anon, replace this valve thingy"
>"wtf is that"
>"temperature control mixer for the shower"
>"cool so i just whip out the old one and stick this one in?"
>"yes"
>cannot find isolation valve
>all pipes are inaccessible without cutting a hole in the wall
>through very expensive tiles
>assume mixer valve is AFTER flow rate control
>turn flow rate control all the way off
>done a lot of small plumbing jobs in the past.
>know that you can edge off a connector and if it starts to drip, tighten it back up, without causing a major leak.
>so if i was wrong, I will not have a problem as long as I am careful and slow
>slowly edge off mixer valve
>no drip
>edge off more
>no drip
>gently edge off more
>not even loose
>slowl-
>WATER EXPLODES OUT OF THE WALL IN A HORIZONTAL BLAST SHOOTING THE OLD MIXER VALVE ACROSS THE ROOM
>giant torrent of hot water now blasting into shower cubicle
>at least it's contained in the shower, right?
>wrong
>far too much water to contain
>flooding out into room
>flowing through floor into restaurant below
>totally soaked
>run downstairs totally dripping wet
>"guys, we have a serious problem ... "
>desperately ask where the main stopcock is.
>no one knows
>NO ONE FUCKING KNOWS WHERE THE MAIN WATER VALVE FOR THE BUILDING IS
continued....
