>Buy a little board off eBay for connecting my Xbox HDD up to the computer
>SATA Cable + board placed into the HDD and a power cable
>Not too bright with PC parts so I stick a 4-pin plug direct from the PSU into the board
>Turn on
>PPPPPSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEW BOOM
>Shit myself, turn mains off and leg it
>Come back 10 mins later and take the poor smoking board away from the HDD
Never again. Got round it by just unscrewing the whole casing and directly plugging the HDD to the PC through the SATA.
