I wanted to make my girlfriend a silver ring. I've reading that you can make them out of a silver quarter. Is that the easiest way to go about doing this?

Or should I buy scrap silver, solder, and weld it together? Sounds a lot more expensive than hammering and filing a quarter.

Anyone have experience with this? I've never done this before.
