This is true, the gas could never build up to concentrations necessary outdoors to suffocate people or explode. As long as OP doesn't try to find the leak with a blowtorch he's fine. They won't fix it either, for this same reason.

The squeaky wheel does get greased though. If he continues raising a stink about it eventually it'll get fixed, and his rent will go up LOL
