Hey /diy/, i come to you today because my son and i are trying a science experiment. He wants to learn about electricity so after a little googling, i found out about Leyden jars. We built his out of a small bottle and all went well, so now i want to know if i can make one out of a trashcan. I plan to use a trash can that stands 3 feet high and has a radius of 8 inches. I will be charging it using a Van de Graaff generator and will be discharging it with a metal coathanger attached to the end of a 4 foot wooden pole while i wear rubber gloves and boots. What i want to know is, am i going to kill myself?
