I have this guy and it will cut through a 23.75 inch diameter log from both sides no problem, maybe 45 seconds per side with a fresh blade. It will cut for an hour of actual cutting time on one charge going through normal 2-6 inch limbs. With 6 batteries in rotation I can work all day nonstop. I took down 3 60 foot trees in a day with this and a rented bucket lift, trunks and all up to almost 2 feet across. Yes a big gas saw will cut a little faster and an expensive one will cut a lot faster but this thing keeps pace with the smaller gas poulan pro saws and isn't far behind some of the 'pro' grade climbing saws. I use it way more than the gas saw simply because I use a chainsaw more often than I would if I didn't have the convenience of a battery saw.

>what brands are the best?
I like to get Makita because all my friends have Makita and we all have the same tools, and we bring them all to the jobsite and when someone says 'hay bud, grab me a drill' we all say "which one do you want?? My-kita or your-kita? hahahaha" lol.

ya, I have a 12 incher and I've cut a cord of wood into fireplace length out of a solid tree up to 20" diameter on one charge 2x18v, 5.0 Ah batteries. I think it will run for about 45 mins to an hour of actual cutting time on one charge. Also felled 60' pine trees and a few bad leaning willows. It cuts fast enough to get to the hinge without the tree wacking you in the face and with a sharp blade you can cut out on the tip no problem (unlike some plug-in electric saws).

This is true, I wanted to get 2 more 5 Ah Makita batteries and a double charger, and I got a circular saw plus 4 batteries plus a double charger for less than the price of 2 batteries on black friday sale.

my chainsaw could cut your chainsaw in half without the battery even registering it.

I have one and it already runs 30-40 minutes on 4.0 Ah batteries, even cutting way above its bar length (20" rounds).
>>1508898
That means a second set of batteries will keep you cutting all day, they charge in about 40-50 minutes. If you really doubt though, you can get off brand 9.0 Ah batteries that get great reviews: https://www.amazon.com/Waitley-battery-9000mah-Replacement-Function/dp/B07CXKQRNC

They market this thing (correctly IMO) as a climbing saw (cutting 0-8" branches) in which case a charge will last 2-3 working hours.

>18v batteries are not enough to run a meaningfully effective sander, or chainsaw, or so on
Maybe true, but this thing runs 45 mins on 2x 18v 5Ah batteries for about 2 years now. Leaf blower runs on low for 1 hour+, 15 mins on high, and has higher airflow than most gas blowers. Weedwhacker 1 hour on low, 25 min on high (again high-power is comparable to ~30cc gas whacker. Fucking oscillating saw runs only about 30 mins on 1 18v battery, im guessing it's just a high friction application. drill and impact driver probably 45 mins of actual wood screw driving. Can run about 400 drywall screws in on one charge with the drill though.
>>1374716
OP I had a couple hundred dollars in Dewalt 18V and I just bit the bullet on Makita 18/ 2x 18 becuase of the interchangeable batteries. Spent about $500 on outdoors tools and the 5Ah batteries.
>>1374734
maybe 80 v is better, but if you can't use them in your drills and hand tools it makes it hard to justify the price of the 80v batteries for landscaping tools only.

It looks like God directed you to the correct option when you chose that picture. Get the LXT li-ion and it works with a bunch of other tools (wider product range than most other manufacturers). Also if you can find a deal on the drill/impact driver kit, go for it. It's a tool I never thought I'd use but now I use the driver for all screws except drywall and only use the drill for holes that I don't have a hex bit for.
