Right, which is why I said it was a small chance. And it'd probably be terminated with an RJ11/RJ12 connector rather than RJ45.
Not saying it's not possible though.

I wouldn't plug an unknown cable into a laptop, especially if there's a chance it could be carrying telephone/POTS voltages. Chase it down and figure out where it goes.

Fairly effing pointless unless you want to cause a potential ground loop or just waste a USB port.

Modern power supplies are switching type. i.e. they can normally take 100-220VAC 50-60Hz without any change in the output. Not the chink shit though.

Though I suppose there are enough idiots out there that would buy these.
If you have power issues use a line interactive UPS.

Laptops have a frigging built-in UPS.. It's called a battery.
