So I'm looking at various biquad antenna designs (not really for amateur radioing but for WiFi) and I can't wrap my head around the fact that this particular design shorts the feedline and the shield of the coax through the active element. But then I look at other types of antennas (cantenna for example) and usually those are not short circuited. Why is this? I know next to nothing about antennas.
