>100ft wide rancher
>gas system was pressurized with air for the inspection 2 weeks ago
>an extra drop was added for hvac in attic.
>gas passes reinspection
>2PM friday
>on site just to keep the subs working
>just me and dumbass plumbers on site hooking up new gas
>dryer installed next
>client's wife smells gas
>plumber tightens connector at dryer and checks with soap
>no bubbles
>i smell gas
>plumber says it's fine and goes home at 2:30
>I finish my work on other end of house and am ready to leave by 3:00
>gas smell is slightly worse in the addition by this point
>client gets home while I'm looking for
leak
>why does it smell like gas in here, anon?
>client follows me around while I check all of the connections
>Open attic access
>wave of gas
>proceed up the stairs and down the narrow passage to hvac platform

>rush to shut off main without creating any type of fire
>client thanks me for being diligent
Turns out owner of the plumbing company's son put the compression fitting on backwards and the inspector didn't bother to check the pressure gauge when he inspected the new work. This same plumber who burned 3 holes in the paint installing radiators and dripped solder on a brand new floor.
By some miracle the client doesn't hate us.
