this sounds like a pretty solid idea. Don't keep anything important or irreplaceable in your apartment until you can find a way out. In the meantime, protect what things you do have there with renter's insurance - a lot of apartment complexes actually require you to get it, anyway.

Lesson hard learned, OP, but not the end of the world. I actually just barely avoided a similar situation once.

I can't imagine this being cheap by any sort of DIY standard, because attempting to acquire single samples of each individual element will be hard, if not near impossible in some cases.

Some of the things you'll need, you can't really buy in tiny amounts, and you'll need clearance for them; paperwork, or proof of need. It's not the case with the overall set, since the amount in the OP pic has such small samples that they're pretty much harmless.

So yeah - sorry, but I can't imagine this being a DIY that'll save money. It'd be a fun DIY for a challenge if you had a bucket of money to spare, though...
