If they're rigid, definitely, no feedback after all.

But I'd rather much have something with flex, i.e. spring steel, than an 1/8" thick piece of steel that just so happens to mimic the shape of a tension wrench.

Falle's tension wrenches are by far the best concept I've seen produced thus far. Theoretically, the best place to position a tension wrench is in the center of the cylinder, which happens to be the top end of the plug. The Falle design allows for this without the possibility of a pick knocking it loose when being withdrawn from the plug. They're too fucking expensive though.

I use HPC's Dial Round tension wrench with great success.
