When I was 16 I spent my whole savings on an Escort. I lowered it, put rims/tires, ground effects, header, spoiler, catback exhaust, tinted windows, had a custom roll bar made, racing seats, 5 point harnesses, god knows how many stereo set ups, and the final touch.. "DRIVE FAST, TAKE CHANCES" on the windsheild.

When I think about all the money I sunk into it, it makes me cringe. I could have had a way nicer car if I had just saved it.

That being said, I owned the car for 7 years and had so many great times in it. I'm sad I sold it. I can see both sides of everyones argument here - yes, you will look like a douche with a metro "all did up with fancy racin' stripes"....but then again, I did everything myself on my car, I learned a lot, and even though I was super douchey most of the time - I wouldnt trade that for having a nicer, newer car.
