Heh, I'm at CMU right now. I can confirm that people sleep on campus all the time. There's even a nap pod in the library (pic related). Also, CMU has a half dozen or so showers scattered across campus that are usually open 24hrs. I think a lot of schools lock up at night (CMU does), but there's usually a few open doors to every building if you look carefully enough, and a few classrooms left unlocked in every building. Most universities are probably similar, except the ones in bad neighborhoods (like USC).
