When I look at OP's image, as a house painter, I wonder how hard it would be to paint the sashes on those windows to the side of that fucktarded bay up top.

It would be a challenge that I would accept.

cleaning and sanding is fine, just don't leave soap residue. If there is any bare metal I'd prime it with oil or alkyd based primer, both of which can be top-coated with latex paint.

and as always, if it's white paint, a shot of black will help it cover, even if the door looks fine already.

>i make useful components on a 90lb chinese mini lathe you geriatric retard
>anything that spins can be a lathe

I make lots of cool stuff on my Harbor Freight 7x10, but compared to a tool room lathe it actually is a toy, in the sense that the diameter that I can work with is more like 3 inches for aluminum and maybe 1.5 inches for steel. I can do lots of "real machining", so it's a real lathe, but the limitations cannot be denied.

this is one of the funnier meme arguments on /diy/, and I hope it never goes away. which reminds me, whatever happened to the shot of black meme.

but that's not it at all. It is not "something silly", but rather a genuine painting technique that actually works but sounds funny, and when originally introduced was met with derision from people who weren't painters, especially some clown who worked at a store and said he would refuse to do it because it conflicted with his paint mixing dogma.

That's why it caught on. Mainly the part about it sounding funny. You're just mad (probably) because you hate new memes that threaten your oldfag status.

>I’m testing if it will break under an unnatural frequency range

why are you concerned about this? what source of power has an unknown frequency range, or are you planning on using a 50 hz device at some wildly different frequency? If so, since you are clearly not well-versed in electricity, I'd recommend against whatever you are trying to do.

>but should I replace the ceiling or just wait for it to fully dry and repaint it?

If it does not sag there's no need to replace it. even if some joint tape pops loose you still just fix that.

and don't forget to ask the guy at the paint store to shake the paint if it's something you got off a shelf. Otherwise they give you a stir stick and assume you have an hour to stir it at home. That way they will know you are a pro.

>a shot of black.

shot of black is a unique /diy/ meme in that it's probably the only one that derives from reality.

i guess it was the combination of "shot" and "black" that stimulated so many almonds.

at any rate, as the original shot of black non-ironic poster, I fucking love it.

>it goes from nothing in the beginning to almost a thumb's width at the end

If "thumb's width" means a gap then that is exactly what joint tape is for. use paper tape and fold it down the middle. Read up (or watch videos) on how to properly work with paper tape so that it does not pucker or buckle. You don't have to use one piece as long as the room; you can work with manageable pieces; that's what the joint compound fixes.

And remember: nobody studies a ceiling except for the guy who made it. Use flat white ceiling paint and it will be fine. And a shot of black always helps, even on new work.

>It's awful. The paint is usually pretty resistant to the wire wheel (might have been powder coat) and you still can't get into a lot of the crevices. It takes forever, between the slow removal rate and having to brush some areas manually.
> Honestly, short of hand sanding, that'd be my last resort if I had to do it again.

which is why real painters do this: scrape some, sand some, (optional rust converter), prime some, then one or two coats of oil-base or alkyd paint. It lasts a pretty good while.

hacking up nice shit is the path to righteousness or utter failure. You have to take the risk, anon. At the very least you will learn something.

at the best, you learn how to do better. at the worst, you learn that maybe you should not be trying shit like this.

go for it.
