Can't say I've ever seen that happen here often. This is not /b/. When it did OP's used to just delete threads and go again later, since the GG drama OP's cannot delete threads anymore though, which is a bitch, but low impact here on /diy/.

I have never seen it happen as I don't visit those boards, but I imagine people who host game servers on /v/ and or /vg/ appreciate being able to trip as OP so they can provide information about the server, notify of changes etc. Last thing you want is some mad anon redirecting all your gamers to an exploited server by claiming an existing IP address or something has changed.

Nope, that's it, the only other reasons that come to mind to 24/7 trip are to become known as an "expert" on a topic, or to become known as someone who is so regular that their name precedes them, somehow lending them more weight than an anon would have. Both of these are complete bullshit. Information should never be tied to identity, and to do so is nothing but a demonstration that you are somehow think your information is more relevant and that everyone should stop and listen to you.
