So it's been a long, long time since I've touched my Prusa. It's from back before they even developed the MK2 so it's technically not the "MK1" since the moniker didn't exist back then, it's the actual " Original Prusa i3 3D Printer". I'd like to start using it again. I know Slic3r went though a lot of changes since then and got remade into PrusaSlicer. I installed it and looks like there's profiles for all of the printers except mine. What do I need to do to make sure the new gcode will work with mine? The MK2/MK3 has a bunch of features like torque sensing and the PINDA probe which I simply don't have and I don't want to break my printer/brick my board when it tries to use those features. Is there a guide somewhere for this? I can only find stuff about the newer printers and it's not too helpful.

What does /diy/ think of 3D printers?

I wish I had found this general before I had done this, but - my old PrintrbotLC decided to stop extruding, and I decided it was time for an upgrade anyway, so I went and bought a Prusa i3 straight from the source (Josef Prusa) for $599. Pic related.

How bad of a decision was this? Or, how good? From what I've read it's a really popular design and one that can be expanded/repaired easily if you know how.
