howdy /diy/

i'd like to assemble an infrared led kit for the purpose of dazzling cctv cameras and some cellphone camera ccds. i am not a fan of the surveillance grid, and yes i realize this would have the opposite effect against flirs.

i am interested in having the ir leds in a hat/headband/balaclava and perhaps either a backpack or a photographers type vest. the hat would be a full brimmed type, not a baseball cap.

do any of you have experience with this? any convenient links? most of my searches have led to nightvision illuminators or visible led clothing with circuitboards. not what i want.

i'd like to keep it as simple as possible. the battery compartment, on/off switch, wires, resistors, and of course the ir leds. preferably aaa batteries for size reasons but i wouldn't be opposed to something like an 18500.

i've seen a number of different wavelengths for the ir leds, does anyone know the most effective for my purpose? any brands of leds to recommend? i'd prefer zero visible light coming off them, and as little heat as possible while still dazzling the cams.

i think i understand all the basics of doing this, i just have no experience with it. i can do a bit of sewing if needed. i have a local radioshack and home depot, as well as amazon prime. i don't mind paying shipping from another internet retailer if i can get the majority of what i need all at the same time. apologies if this has been covered before.

Correct. IR LEDs are easy on batteries anyway.

Tried to make a IR LED Hat/mask to hide my face from cameras but was out testing and the IR LEDs were not that bright and was wondering if any one could help me find some super bright Ir LEDs that would cover my cover my entire head.

Pic is an example of what i want
