I would like to build a squat rack from wood at home. I would like to know how to make the adjustable pegs to hold the bar, what kind of wood and screws to use, how to build a frame that would be sturdy enough to support the weight of the bar, and what kind of tools/materials I would need.

if you are going the /diy/ way, why not make a power rack like pic related?
just stay away from slim wood pieces and plastic stuff

What books would you recommend to a newbie who wants to learn to do woodwork as a hobby? I'd like to start with fun, small (cheap) projects ie. boxes, tables, chairs, etc. and learn the basic techniques, thanks.

Hi /diy/

I'm building a power rack and I bought 2x4's to screw together. I'm kinda lost. Where and how often do the boards need to be screwed?

Hello, /diy/.
I came here because i'm rather poor, but enjoy /diy/ and i'd like to make a power rack. I have some questions.
I want to make a barbell because buying one would make me spend twice as much as i am for the power rack. It's 60$ and you can only find 120kg limit ones.
I want use a metal pipe you buy from the steel yard. How do i calculate how much weight will it bare without deforming? will a square bar be more sturdy than a round bar? Will a full(not hollow) square bar made from iron(i guess, not steel, the guys selling them are dumb as fuck).
Is this retarded? The option of going to the gym is 100% out of my reach.
