Guys people have been making backgrounds this same exact way for years. All you need to do is seal it with a proper sealant. This is the same technique used in the aquarium hobby for a long time, I'm not the first person to make a background this way and I certainly won't be the last.
I can only imagine you guys have never researched this at all, seeing as you're sighting nothing and calling it fact. I've done my research and have personally seen plenty of diy backgrounds (all of which go INSIDE the tank, no one puts a 3d background outside the tank because that completely ruins the entire point.) that hold up very well and are completely safe for the fish. People use foam, expanding foam and insulation foam and styrofoam etc. cover it in mortar/cement, use acrylic paints and then seal it. It will be aquarium safe if you use the right products, which I have. So instead of complaining about shit that isn't real can you guys tell me if it looks good or not? lmao
