Not OP, but personally I downloaded realplayer,
Download music videos off YouTube (public domain, bitches) then convert to mp3 so I have both, but yeah, I agree with the main point that it's about personal minimalism more than anything.
I have gone 100% digital for all media.
I scanned all my books, download ebooks, audiobooks etc. And back it up to cloud storage and sd cards for multi-format triple redunancy.

Inb4 piracy/theft.

In most cases, they are either public domain or a backup copy of material I have bought or similar material from same artist or author. This is legal under copyright law.

I have lost hard copies or digital files or cds, dvds that I have paid for in the past but lost due to hard drive crash, virus, damage, theft etc as well.

I don't do torrents or tpb or shot like that.
