I have the bosch gts1031 and fingerbanged the hitachi at the store. The bosch has a better motor and a good fence, the hitachi has a good motor and a better fence. Whats nice about the Hitachi is the depth of the throat plate mount (deeper), you can make you own zero clearance or dado plate vs dealing with sheet metal plates for the bosch. Go to the store with a pocket square and molest the fence and bevel adjustments to see if they hold up to tolerances.

Those stains are permanent, many thousandths deep. To prevent any more use a polyurethane or epoxy coat. Sand to 600 grit between coats.
