That's it. Keep in mind that it will fade after so many feet (you should test it to see what is the acceptable drop off to you). It's not super bright, but it does do nice accent lighting.

Hmm, I wonder if he has looked into side emitting fiber optics. I'm not sure if it fades in the sun over time, but it is brighter, doesn't fade over time, and lower voltage. Pic related.

No worries. I would recommend ordering a length of side emitting fiber optic and some colors you may think you want. That way you get a feel for what the light is going to look like.

Do the same with EL wire. I'm pretty sure most vendors have sample kits with a variety of colors. That way you can view both types in the type of lighting and placement application to help you make up your mind. I'll tell you right now that making the sign is a lot of work. You don't want to do like 10-20 hours of making the sign to not like how the light looks.
