if you have the dimensions for bridgeport style wiper covers, the little panel that holds the felt wipers, you could make one (aluminum) that both holds felt wiper strips and allows you to mount a way cover material, like:

https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/31937667

or if you're really desperate for right now, how about a gucci ass mousepad with some silly logo CNC machined into it.

like an aluminum rectangle maybe 3/16" or 1/4" thick, with a square depression milled into it for a mouse bearing surface material, with nice beveled edges (could include some tapped holes near the bottom to attach a wrist-rest strip or something to keep your hand off the cold metal), and at the top put your "gucci" logo of some sort.

A way to hold it down to a desk would be appreciated, I expect. I wonder if adjustable height suction cups on the corners would be worthwhile? Or at least a provision for using some kind of adhesive strip.

Or maybe add some weight to it, to keep it from sliding (lead inserts?) hell just make it out of steel.

Now sell it for $100+ to gamers on ebay or amazon (it doesn't take long to set up a store to list items on Amazon btw).

What do you think? Worthwhile? Some 1/2 aluminum plates would be good material to start with. Man, a lot of PC stuff is just not durable at all. Making a billet PC case you sell for like $400 would probably sell even, if you have that large of a working envelope.

A stamped and hardened sheet metal keyboard would be fucking fantastic too, but then you'd be CNC'ing a die and need the rest of the press (heavy weight go up/down). Would be bad to skimp out on the stamping part and leave sharp corners, of course.

Hardened sheet metal can be one of the most beautiful things around.
