Yes and no. Magnum 1012 is a US variant. Really they're only ever useful with an external antenna, even with the discontinued AH-27 or whatever bigass whip (pic related, minus the aluminum pole).
For giggles I stepped outside and did a 60 mile mountain to mountain line of sight QSO with one on AM using pic related but they're otherwise pretty useless and yield less than 1 mile range when interacting with a 100 foot tower station in flat urban land.

That Argentina guy. I went 100km on HF with handheld in my driveway to another hill. Coax to the whip and ran a radial pointed their way clipped to the base of that.
