I've done pipefitting and ironworking in oil refineries, and now more recentley, millwright work in grain elevators for the past 5 years.

You are the type of dumbass who gets himself and potentially everyone on your crew fucked up or over. I listen to the safety guy because I've seen people get all kinds of fucked up and mangled because they didn't listen or heed what the safety guy said. Not tying off, not inspecting rigging, not wearing the right kind of clothes, and all the little shit is what comes back to bite you in the ass. Ask a project manager if he'd rather deal with a delay in production or an employee fucking himself up.

I'm not saying that OSHA isn't overly bureaucratic or that safety guys aren't a pain in the ass, but they are there for a reason. You're the type of idiot who is going to get himself or probably someone else fucked up.
