OP I would say forget glass. Not for any of the above mentioned reasons. It is just too much of a pain in the ass to work with especially if you are just using scrap windows you found laying around.

Also a pro tip if you are using the classic tunnel design with plastic pulled over. Make sure you use rounded heads on anything on the exterior or you will soon learn a very, very painful lesson.

Also you can save seed from last years crop. That gives you some assurance that the plant is acclimatized.

And yes Burpee sucks ass! Four seeds in a packet? They can fuck off!

Believe it or not Ebay. You can get a surprising amount of variety from there.

Word of caution though. Check the sellers ratings and especially any negative feedback before ordering.

Everything manufactured now is shoddy and inferior. Even your education evidently.

OP just from your initial questions I would give up on this notion or at minimum wait until summer.

I used to drive a tour bus in Alaska and some of the questions you ask sound like the ones asked by people the rangers went looking for.

Ten degrees is really getting into the danger zone. If you haven't done it before don't do it. Wait for the summer and pack lots of bug spray and a water filter.

Looks like facade stone to me. There are very, very few real rock jobs any more.

Rock walls really aren't that hard. They just require you to be sober and pay attention and not be stupid which is rare in any of the trades anymore.

This is why I quit working for landlords. I try to explain to them what the issue is and what it will cost to do it correct and they say oh well durr hurr just slap some paint on it.

In my experience they rarely want to do it right and will end up blaming me when the whole thing falls down around their ears.

Most of the landlords where I live have no business owning a property. I always hate it when they tell me over the phone..."Oh its just a small job" Red Flag!

I saw one this year where the ENTIRE living room ceiling was ready to collapse. And there was a tenant living in there that had the place loaded with furniture. Bitch had the nerve to tell me this small job bullshit. How the fuck you gonna work on that? Especially after she has told you its a 'small' job? Slap some paint on it?

OP one thing to always remember in any vehicle is that if you drink you can get a dwi charge. Depending upon the state and how much of an asshole the cop is you can get a dwi for having alcohol anywhere near the vehicle whether you are driving or not.

DWI is insane where I live. It is basically a draconian way to steal money from people. I have heard stories of them even busting hunters that had the keys in their 4 wheelers that had been parked for hours. Its nuts so be safe.

While I admire your DIY spirit OP you should be aware of one central tenant of engineering. Everything no matter how well built will eventually fail.

I was camping in a hammock one time and the fucker broke on me in the middle of the night. Luckily I had a nice rock there to break my fall. Landed right on my tail bone. Shit was cash.

And then you run into the problem of legalization. Where I live marijuana is legal in your own home so you wouldn't have much say about pot smoking. This also goes for a number of other states as well.

What this guy says. I have done handyman work for years and won't even give a landlord the time of day anymore.

I know they are almost all upside down on their properties and they don't have the money to do proper repairs.

The longer they let the properties sit without doing the proper work the longer they sit.

There are very few successful landlords out there. The ones that are making any money at all do all the work themselves.

Your problem is simple OP. Just bring everything in on snow machine in the winter.

With any luck you can get a week or so use out of it after it is built before Fish and Game finds it and tears it down.

If its a cement floor you just use a torch and it burns right off leaving it like new.

Just be careful you don't use too hot a flame or it will chip and crack the cement.

Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda.

I had a criminal dentist while I was growing up. I was under age so I didn't have the rights to control the destiny of my own mouth.

Every time I went to see him he was all like oh durr hurr I found a cavity but luckily we caught it just in time. I hated the procedures so much that I brushed and flossed religiously. And yet every time he 'found' another cavity.

He was later arrested for selling shares in a gold mine in South America that didn't exist.

Later I saw a expose on 60 minutes where a dentist got kicked out of the American Dental Association for talking about Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide. I started doing that on a periodic basis and have never had a problem.

Well other than one of my back molars breaking off and exposing the lead filling that piece of shit put in my mouth when I was fifteen.

If we lived in a just world more than half of the doctors, dentists and psychiatrists would be doing hard time busting rocks.

OP the key here is renting or leasing the land. If you can draw up a pretty good contract land owners will rent you land for cheap, cheap, cheap as long as you can legally cover your bases.

Land rent or share cropping goes way back to Mid evil Europe and has a ton of laws in place to represent this sort of arrangement.

I have been quoted rates as low as twenty bucks an acre per year just because the land owners want the tax breaks and to keep the land from going fallow.

For instance just state by state anymore they call fishing regulations The Bible anymore to mock its various regulations.

This mysterious "They" would be wrong. I would know as I spent six winters there just trying to survive. I had my summer money to barely get me by.

But even at that living on remote beaches and lava fields looking for any spare job kinda sucked. I had to fight for my life a few times as a few of the locals are really, really, really psychotic shit bags.

The WWOOF programs won't even feed you. So you end up working twelve hours a day and being on food stamps working for psychotic shit beasts that dropped too much acid in the sixties.

Don't let the tourists pamphletes and the Aloha horseshit fool you. Hawaii is a really shitty place to make a go of it.

If I had a bunch of money and could live behind a gate I would go back. Other than that I wouldn't consider it.

You can't shoot a squatter on apparently abandoned property.

They call it murder. God I hope you are trolling and don't own any guns.

Also this. I constantly read stories about farmers in the warmer latittudes that bitch about not being able to find workers.

Their code is they can't find cheap disposable Mexican labor they can pay less than minimum wage to and treat like shit, expose to toxic chemicals and treat like shit and pay or not pay depending upon the mood of their lord and master.

Look when I was growing up ag work was the eight ball in the corner pocket that kept the country humming along.

If you ever needed money you went to a farm and applied for a low wage job which would keep you above water until you could move along to something better.

Then they dropped the flood gates for illegal immigration and the country went to shit.

There as of late and rightuflly so been a lot of crackdowns on illegal labor. It only makes sense in a country with such high unemployment.

Find some of these big farms and ask for a job. If they refuse to hire an English speaker call immigration and OSHA. I did a small job at a condo complex recently and all the illegals were acting like dicks to me.

One phone call and three days latter they were all gone.

Think about it anon.

Also OP I will tell you from experience a lot of the people posting in this thread have never been homeless. So I would take a lot of this advice with a grain of salt.

Overall I would say if your situation is that bad and you don't have any real bros that are willing to help you out in your time of need its time to fucking move south to some place warm. Obviously your jobs in the area are shitty and the people sound shitty so why stick around?
