You could get two short camera shutter button extensions and find some way of fitting them from your handle bar to your game boy.

I've been doing most of it on a table saw. I don't anything could really speed things up, the shapes take time to cut no matter how it's done.

Yeah, the hardware looks too shiny. Get some antiqued brass stuff like this and stain it slightly darker.
