1.) what kind of controller do you have?
2.) How good at electronics and soldering are you?
3.)what features do you want

Speaks the truth, this one does. Check the connections between the drive and the board. Chances are there's a shitty cold solder joint.

You can't make a "custom" anything without any engineering knowledge.

Good for you, you know how to use a soldering station. I taught my hippy girlfriend how to solder and she doesn't even know how to hang a picture on a stud.

This guy has great resources that will give you enough to study for at least 3 months part time. I'm not going to give you the forum URL I go to, we just got rid of all our cancer.

Even if it were possible to give a paint by numbers breakdown of this shit, you have literally given us nothing to work with... such as
-budget
-desired output level
-a tone/ tones you want to achieve

I feel like I got trolled.

That version absolutely BLOWS chunks. Kvietah's cover is infinitely superior.

It essentially won't affect it all, you don't even need to go in that deep. 1/4 or 3/8 should be plenty. Just use a darker stain or paint or whatever

Buy a breadboard, bitches love breadboards
Seriously though, it's essential gear for prototyping, they only cost like 15 bucks.

Pandering to hipsters makes you a tasteless, pretentious faggot.
The clipping and noise is so bad, I literally can't tell if you guys even know how to play. I listen to fucked up shit, but this is unlistenable. It's abrasive and casues listener fatigue, the EQ is terrible. Was your only mic near the bass cabinet?

Take a page from 90's black metal and learn to spot the difference between "necro" production and "shitty" production. Or the difference between "artifacts" and "noise". Usually the necro style is to evoke atmosphere, but I didn't catch that here, Try listening to "Strength and Anger" by Ildjarn for inspiration.

Using digital equipment to go for a "lo-fi" sound is a waste of time, you can't red line digital. Buy a little 4 track tascam cassete recorder, learn to bounce tracks and how to read the VU meters and saturate the tape well.

The secret ingredient for "necro" recordings is to record the tracks on analog tape with the noise reduction turned on and then turn it off when transferring to mix/mastering, this will create artifacts by screwing with the algorithms.

I use a Tascam 388, which I am very, very happy with. These things are real gems and you can span the spectrum of production styles with them.
