Ok 200c for bread prolly doesn't make any sense...

May consider it. Could you like jot down an excerpt or screenshot something? I'm a novice at cooking but am not totally TOTALLY inept. I would want to evaluate whether I really should just subscribe to ATK or just begin baking with easier recipes.

Got a thermapen. Probably should have just put it in there before and waited for it to get to 230c. 200f or 200c for the bread? And I'm 70-80% sure it was forty minutes. Does the steam change anything? What happens if I don't put in water? Or if I don't use a dutch oven, which is what I did but followed the directions per here : https://www.lifeasastrawberry.com/crusty-bread-without-dutch-oven/#:~:text=WHEN%20WE%20TALK%20ABOUT%20A%20DUTCH%20OVEN%20ALTERNATIVE%20FOR%20BREAD%2C%20WHAT%20WE%27RE%20REALLY%20TALKING%20ABOUT%20IS%20HOW%20TO%20CREATE%20STEAM%20INSIDE%20YOUR%20OVEN..

Like this part. Too moist but tasted like bread and wasn't burnt to all hell. But at the same time, it's not what I wanted. How tf do people bake???

Here's the inside immediately after taking it out of the oven. Is that doughy, wet looking part uncooked? But when I rip apart the bread, it's all cooked. It's a bit too moist but it's cooked and that wet spot is only where the knife passed through. Or wtf am I looking at here? Honestly, I ate quite a bit of this already.

So, apparently, I have no talent for neither cooking NOR baking. This fucking sucks. I don't think picrel is cooked through. So then how do I bake bread without it getting nuked to all shit? This is the recipe I followed to a FUCKING T.
https://www.kitchensanctuary.com/artisan-bread-recipe/#recipe
The bread I want is in the thumbnail for the YT video on the site. Advice to get there from picrel? Or just lower bake temp? What about fan vs not? Used the fan because the recipe said so and it felt WAY hotter than 230C.

Sorry I'm staying up so late but I don't think I'll be able to stay up much more. Got some important stuff to do later today. Like, trying again at baking bread (amongst other things – but I really do want to learn to make delicious bread for sandwiches and soups and stuff!) Anyway, ciao for now.

6'4" wall here, and if i was under 200 bucks i'd be a skeltal. you'd be able to play fuckin giant steps with mallets on my rib cage. do you not have any muscle mass at all?
to answer the OP, i've been eating a lot of soup and stews (borscht, split pea soup, beef n barley, chili, etc.). otherwise, the usual fried eggs and rye bread for breakfast. where's my soup gang at

not OP but i want to know more about sub-Saharan African food. i've already eaten Moroccan, Egyptian, Libyan, Tunisian, Mauritian (Chinese and Indian food amirite), etc. and some of South African (boerwars, bunny chow), but haven't really explored much of Africa outside of MENA.
open my mind

sashimi is delicious desu but if your hangup is on texture you'll hate most, if not all, of it. what's the most conventionally adventurous food you'd eat; what would be your limit?
>>20305759
i know arfid people who like mac n cheese which, to me, seems like a pretty gloopy dish. would you eat something like a chicken alfredo?
>>20305764
i myself am a human garbage bin and grew up in a rural blue collar mining town, but also had an actual chef as a parent so i know what well-prepared food tastes like. but i also like sloppa. tell me you honestly don't enjoy fried spam and mustard on white bread

why do picky eaters, or people with """avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder""" always eat chicken nuggets, pizza, and hotdogs as their safe foods and not something like ratatouille, risotto, paprikash, etc.?
is ARFID a meme or can any of you tastelets defend yourselves?

Use lard or tallow. Cooking oil/grease that doesn't come from animals is for homos.

Go to the store late in the evening and the price will drop and go 2 for 1. We do it all the time. Take home, debone, and vacuum seal to freeze. It can be as low as $3 for 2 birds

I went on a date with this chick a few years back, she wanted Pho, I said fo sho (judge me), and she and I had a good time but there was fucking PEANUT SAUCE ON THE TABLE. That shit was gross.

It tasted like someone dumped peanut butter into noodles. God it was gross.

She and I didn't work out cause she didn't wanna date an over-the-top nerd. JOKES ON HER IM GOING TO JAPAN SOON
