i really miss the "roll" challenges, too bad the mods look down on that kinda stuff....i also thought a fun idea for a challenge would be to get inspired from a board other than /ck/, but i dunno how much sense that makes....

going to try to fight the urge to compete next year. 3 times is enough....i always am excited in the beginning and am just looking forward to the end by the halfway mark. this year was rough... since i moved to the middle of nowhere i cant find decent varieties of meat... i couldnt even find quail... when i looked for duck, my only option would have been a frozen whole duck for $30-40, but i am excited to judge next year!

aaaand vertical. i forgot to mention in the vertical that i only used 1/3 of the dough for the bread, but i dont put the measurements, so i guess that doesnt matter...

this was my first time making a pate, and i'm definitely going to make more of it! i hate the texture of mushrooms, but love the flavor, so this was glorious!

ok, i'll go first, i did it last night, just too tired to post. I haven't been able to do much of it this year, but i cook mostly cajun/french food. Its my jam. So for your consideration:

I played along with orange, it was great because I could fry everything!

My entry: Wings 2 ways: Mango Chutney-Curry and Cajun Buffalo with onion rings and a dip. I really don't know what to call the dip, we use for crawfish, fries, onion rings, or pretty much anything really.

I'll post my vertical later.

haha, no need to pretend to be sorry! i think every year i've done this there's been THAT challenge, and i'm sure most of the other people in the competition have a THAT challenge moment. I'm just tipsy enough to go on a minirant...

i never really like doing desserts for nondessert rounds, so.....meh....

I HATED this round! I don't really do raw food (i'm from the south, we cook everything!) anyways, i was planning on doing some vegetable spaghetti with sauce and whatnot, then I realized, i probably wouldn't like it...as weekend drew near, i decided "fuck it, i'm gonna get a low score, but i'm going to make some basic ass bitch dessert that i'll at least actually enjoy." so here we are:

No-bake cheesecake filled strawberries with a fresh strawberry daiquiri sorbet

Makes me wish I could've gone to the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival this year... anyways im not pleased with the presentation, but I'm so done with this round.... i'm going get tipsy off sorbet and play animal crossing....

i'll post vertical either later tonight or tomorrow...where are my pjs? i'm done with this whole day!

Guess what came in the mail today? My prize! A whole book on how to keep my man happy. Thanks a bunch BubbleBurst! I can't wait to try out some of these recipes.

Interesting theme...I'll have to think this one over....

Here's my entry:
Surf 'n Turf Bombs with a Garlic Cream Sauce

Inside each biscuit is either shimp and cheese or steak and caramelized onion. I didn't realize until i finished that the whole dish is yellow...at least it tastes good.

was hoping to cook entry today, but stuff came up, so I won't be posting mine til tomorrow afternoon/evening. Hopefully voters stick around 'til tuesday! Bummed that I had to resort to plan b for my dish

that looks super yummy!!!

Going get my ingredients tomorrow. I have a plan B because i doubt i'll be able to find one of the ingredients for plan A....fingers crossed!

thanks! the 1/2 and 1/2 is a good idea, probably more presentable.

I thought putting the shot on fire would be nice presentation for the challenge, although i did feel bad making a flaming shooter of extra anejo tequilla. I figured i generally water it down with water, and burning off some of the alcohol would give the same effect and the heat would enhance the flavor....it kinda worked...idk tequila generally isnt my thing...

and i think the lime looks big because its the closest object to the camera...but i'm no scientist....
