Yeah, I've only been cooking for a little over a year so I have difficulty coming up with anything original that would also taste good. The furthest extent of my originality when making food for this challenge was basically taking multiple recipes and combining them to make something different.

I'm just asspained about the guy who gave me a 2 for presentation tbh. Personally thought mine would win in that category. He also gave me a 4 for challenge goals while giving everyone else a 5. Completely nonsensical.

I always thought of "challenge goals" as a free 5 points if you did what was asked. Prevents people from submitting irrelevant shit.

>shit scores for presentation

I will never understand some of the people who judge in these threads.

Nice idea and I understand what you were going for after listening to the music. At the same time I don't know how all those flavors go together. It's kind of like a fresh salad on top of a soup.

Cool idea and you managed to mostly pull it off. Docked you a bit on appeal because I don't think the seaweed fits with the dish in terms of flavor. Still, definitely my favorite thing from this round so far.

Presentation works to a degree but it's clumsy. I'd also gladly eat it but it's far from the most appealing chimichanga I've seen.

Lentils, walnuts, and beets isn't an ideal combination to me because the first two are relatively bland. It seems like you would need something else to balance out the flavor of the beets. A sauce and additional topping would have bumped it up in presentation and appeal.

This was difficult to judge. It's sloppily done but that kind of works because it's based on a painting. I'm also assuming the glass was intentional because of the flowers. Unfortunately, the picture is pretty terrible and doesn't help the presentation or appeal.

If you've seen the movie it should be fairly obvious. There's a tense scene from the movie where Hans Landa is eating apple strudel along with Shosanna.

That should read "After it's cooked and you've pulled the pork into a separate container ..."

I probably don't need to explain that but still.

>chutney
http://www.daringgourmet.com/2013/03/07/indian-mango-chutney/

I used poppy seeds instead of nigella but I don't think either would really change how it tastes.

>pulled pork
http://www.daringgourmet.com/2013/03/18/pulled-mango-chicken-sandwiches/

Use like 3-4 pounds of trimmed pork shoulder instead of chicken and also double the amount of chutney. After it's cooked add a bunch of the leftover chutney and mix that shit together to make the bun filling.

>buns
http://thewoksoflife.com/2014/02/chinese-bbq-pork-buns-cha-siu-bao/
http://thewoksoflife.com/2015/01/milk-bread-2/

Use the "technique" from the first link and the bun recipe from the second.

Just toss the tablespoon of dry active yeast as it is into the mixer with the rest of the stuff. Also don't be afraid the stuff the buns more than you think you can; just make sure the bottoms are sealed well by pulling and pinching the dough together.

>salsa
I like the salsa with it but it's non-essential. I used three small mangoes, half a red onion, some cilantro, and the juice of one lime. Adding hot peppers would be good too.

Mango chutney pulled pork buns with a mango salsa on the side.

The pork was slow cooked for about 10 hours in homemade mango chutney among other things. After I pulled the pork I added the remaining half of the chutney to create the filling for the buns. The end result is good with or without the optional mango salsa.

I guess it's both? I dipped some of the biscotti and then ate the cranberries and leftover pudding afterwards.

The part where it suggests making two 10x3 logs confused the fuck out of me so I ended up making them a little wider. Probably 8x4 instead.

Also, for melting the chocolate, use a double boiler and don't forget to add the occasional teaspoon of boiling water to the chocolate if necessary (helps it from seizing and makes it easier to drizzle).

Made some cranberry and pistachio biscotti with a white chocolate drizzle. There's also a pomegranate cream pudding with a cranberry chutney on top. I thought the sweetness of the pudding was balanced by the tartness of the cranberry and apple cider vinegar pretty well.

What? You can't even use the argument that it's a picture of a single serving because you gave Sayu a 5/5 for the same thing.

I would let it stew for an additional hour to make the meat a little more tender. Also, I added potatoes and carrots with an hour of cooktime remaining.
