Okay fellow cooksluts the voting is now done and here are the results...

1st place is A FUCKING TIE between nrrwmndd and sakeanon as both scored a modest 15.4 with quaff coming in as the runner up with a score of 13.9.

This means that unfortunately Tiki Doomer, with an average of 12.4, will not be making it into round 5 and will bid farewell to the competition. Thank you very much to Tiki for his contributions in this year's /ck/ Challenge and hope he comes back in 2020 to try again!

With that now the challenge comes to just 3 anons who will compete in round 5 on Monday, which will be the FINAL ROUND of the /ck/ challenge. Please look forward to the thread tomorrow and may the best anon win!

Alright well round 4 seems to have gone off in a way that I personally didn't expect, to where almost half of the competitors didn't submit a dish for what it supposed to be the first elimination round. I guess "tea" was a lot harder of a theme then I had expected so I guess I know what I'll need to stick to for future challenges (assuming I'm around to do another one in 2019).

Well for now it seems that the current competitors are

nrrwmndd
Sakeanon
Quaff
and Tiki Doomer

One of these 4 will be on the chopping block starting tomorrow or once this thread dies. The best average scoring 3 competitors will face off with 1 last dish on Monday for the 5th and final round.

While I'm a little disappointed in how round 4 has turned out i do hope that the round victors will still submit a dish for round 5 (which will obviously be signature dish) and hopefully we see some fun stuff and I can hopefully try a bit harder to make the 2020 Challenge a bit better and more accessible assuming 4chan is still alive next year.

See y'all tomorrow.

>if the other two don't submit does an elimination still happen and 3 people get knocked out this round?
At this point I’d say yes. Depending on how many people submit I’ll probably do a final round on Monday, winner takes all.

Doesn't matter, as long as it's an implementation of "tea" or the tea plant it doesn't matter as long as /ck/ thinks it fits the theme.

You technically could still do dim sum as it’s supposed to traditionally pair well with tea. I just decided to try something far reaching but not necessarily “easy.”
Next round will not be an ingredient theme.

Also because I was late Round 4 will be extended an extra day so submissions will end on May 28th at Midnight CEST and voting will then go until the 31st.

In Round 3 challenger Bell took the top score with his Habanero, Pineapple and Rosemary Tart! In the open rounds bonus contest challenger nrrwmndd !!5q13kDmTZEt came out on top and will win a secret prize that I will send him this week! The chefs who will compete in the next round after their successful entries in the open rounds are:

Bell
nrrwmndd
quaff
Sakeanon
FPM
moose
Tiki Doomer

However, in these elimination rounds the themes will change and only the best will rise on top. To prove this point, round 4 will be an elimination round where 1 challenger will have to hang up the knife and head on home. Who will rise to the occasion and escape the chop?

And now we go to the THEME for ROUND 4!

Now as this is the /ck/ Challenge and not the Chairman Gaijin Challenge, I think that it is appropriate to take in some desires given by some of the anons in the thread. One of the popular ideas was dim sum, a small item used for Chinese brunch which in English means "heart's delight." The many dishes that make up the traditional dim sum cuisine are made to pair well with a certain ingredient that has been enjoyed since time immemorial. Countless wars and dynasties were built on this ingredient that has survived for millennia due to its unique qualities and "heartwarming" effect.

So with that being said, the ROUND THEME WILL BE…..

TEA!

For this round I would like the challengers to prepare a dish that exhibits the elements of tea in a dish! There are no restrictions to the type of dish that will be made other then that the dish must exhibit the qualities of tea and that tea be used as the primary feature of the dish!

This an ELIMINATION ROUND so we shall see 1 CHALLENGER WITH THE WORST SCORE THIS ROUND BE ELIMINATED from the competition. Best of luck to all of you and may the best chefs triumph in this battle of /ck/ing!

ALLEZ CUISINE!

Welcome to the 2019 /ck/ Challenge!

The theme for each round is announced on the 1st Monday after the previous round's end with 2 weeks for submissions. After that the voting/rating thread goes up for 3 days and everyone is welcome to vote on the submitted dishes.

Submit your dish with a timestamped picture of your creation (ideally with an available step-by-step process via an imgur gallery post or a photoshopped/GIMPed picture) with a unique totem visible in the picture (any type of object be it a dice, glassware, cloth that you'll show with your submissions for the rounds). If you would not like to submit scores then you are free to give feedback/criticism on the challengers dishes as you see fit (just don't fucking clog up the thread with autism please).

The voting will follow modified Iron Chef rules, a 20 point scale where 5 points each will go towards Presentation (how the dish looks on the plate, i.e. the plating), Originality, Appeal (how appetizing the dish looks to you) and fulfilling the Challenge Goals.

You may use this template in order to score the competitors submissions:

Presentation: /5
Originality: /5
Appeal: /5
Challenge Goals: /5
Total: /20

I set the rules clear at the beginning of the challenge as to who makes it through.
If you wanted someone else in then you should’ve voted for someone else. Tiki Doomer’s dish in round 2 scored high enough to make it in so that’s that.
>>12311595
See above.
Also he had the best average score so he is absolutely not being removed. Nobody in the current list is unless they don’t submit a dish next round.

>> No.12310326 [View]

For full scoresheet see https://files.catbox.moe/71bwac.xlsx

Also for the open rounds challenge, the winner is nrrwmndd with an average score of 15.708, followed by Bell with a 14.319 and Quaff with a 13.719. I will send out the secret prize to nrrwmndd next week. In order to claim your prize please sent a message on discord to hal#3332 with a timestamped picture (in EST preferably) of your totem along with either a valid email address or a shipping address.

Anyhow with the conclusion of the open rounds let's do some feedback on how to improve the elimination rounds and get more people involved. Please let me know in the poll below what changes you'd like to see:

Also since some people were divisive about the round themes a bit please let me know if you have any suggestions for future round themes below:

Alright well I guess the voting is done so I guess I'll announce the round winner and will have the collage done for the next thread (Round 4 will begin on Monday morning).

And in a mirror reflection of last round it was a close battle between two of the top performers in the open rounds, but like round 2 the winner is...BELL!

With an average score of 16.625, Bell narrowly beats nrrwmndd's 16.375 average to take a second straight round victory!

With this the open rounds have concluded and with this the elimination rounds will begin next week, but with only 7 chefs who braved through the Kit/ck/hen Stadium to gain a spot with their highest ranked open rounds dish.

THOSE ADVANCING ARE...

Bell
nrrwmndd
quaff
Sakeanon
FPM
moose
and Tiki Doomer

Congratulations and best of luck in Round 4! To all those who didn't make it in, thank you for submitting a dish in this year's /ck/ challenge and we hope to see you battle it out again in 2020!

Thanks to all the anons who made me a muthafukin' sandwich for round 2! For those who didn't, get back in 'da kitchenz!

Anyhow let's get down to the final scores. THE WINNER OF ROUND 2 IS...

BELL WITH AN AVERAGE SCORE OF 16.5! CONGRATULATIONS!

A lot of high-scores this round with most getting above a 13! The runners-up for this round were nrrwmndd, the winner of round 1, with an average score of 15.1667 and Quaff with an average score of 14.8333! Well done to both of you!

And with this round at a close, the first updates for the open rounds contest winner clear out with nrrwmndd in 1st place with a 15.375 average followed close behind by Quaff with a 15.02 average and Sakeanon with a 14.43!

Well done to everyone in this round, especially Tiki Doomer who had a 6 point gain from round 1! We now move into round 3, the last of the open rounds! I will be making a new thread in a few hours once this thread dies off to announce the theme!

Anime food could literally be anything so I'm not gonna do something like that, but I would like do maybe do 1 round that's more Asian/Japan oriented as this is a Chinese Silk Weaving Image Board.
