I just read a thing that said light cream is apparently hard to find outside the Northeast US, to the point of being almost non-existent west of Pennsylvania or south of Washington D.C.

This is quite a surprise to me. I've always thought of light cream as being as much of a staple dairy product as milk or butter. Is it really that hard to get elsewhere?
