I recently tried this wife cake from Chinatown!
It tasted much of lard and I had enough after a few bites. Nice winter melon paste flavor.
The pineapple bun which was very Hawaiian was much nicer.

Last night I made a veggie soup from green onion, green pepper, turnips and turnip greens, carrots, jalapeno, whole tomatoes, leftover grilled corn and better than bouillon vegetable flavor.

the only trouble is not hitting the bottle every night, despite the wonderful placid calm that comes with a strong gin and juice

hmm I love the way seaweed salad snaps around in my mouth.
fried spring rolls are similarly rewarding even though I have a painful tooth filling and only chew on one side.
I still love food but it grates on my jimmies that I'll never be able to take big ridiculous bites of anything again

i fast all day until about 2pm then have either a smoothie with 3 bananas and peanutbutter and kale or eternal veggie soup sometimes both.
I only drink water now
For dinner it's usually a vegan protein/starch/veggie or a sandwich.
My poop is like soft serve and smells like overripe bananas.

I got some szechuan peppercorns from a spice shop in my town and they add a spicy numbing quality which could be what you are seeking. It's part of Chinese five spice powder.
That really is a cool sensation that is unlike any other food feeling thus far.
Introduce it on a date for fireworks.

Oh God the vocal similarities!
