Falls under the category of spices so it is allowed. The point is to not add cheap filler that ruins the taste.

It's in the name chili con carne. Chili with meat. It's a stew made with chilis and beef. Give it a rest, this isn't the topic of this thread.

Now that the dust has settled and we all agree that beans don't go in chili, are there any decent alternatives to the classic chuck roast? I've considered eye of round before, but it seems like it would be too lean to make a decent chili.

You're going to need to baste it with something or else it'll dry out.

Fuck it then water with salt. Enjoy your flavorless mush roast. Post results when it's done.

Doing what you suggested will be very bad for the reasons this guy said

>>15944717

If you absolutely want to eat it with minimum effort then sure. 325-350 for about 3 hours. Put some beef broth in the pan with it and cover while doing this.

Why the fuck do you people watch YouTube chefs? If I made a cooking channel you dumb faggots would probably watch it.

>> No.15944723 [View]

What I would do:

>salt and season
>sear sides
>put in a pan on a bed of potatoes and veggies, onions, garlic, and bay leaves
>cool until pull apart tender (probably a couple hours)

It's not that hard you lazy fuck. Alternatively use it for a chili.

Just in the oven for 45 min with nothing else? It'll be tough and bland. I wouldn't wanna eat it.

When your seasoning is thick enough it behaves like a nonstick pan which doesn't wear down over time like teflon. Also they are good at cooking things evenly.

>> No.15941606 [View]

Sounds like your pan isn't seasoned well enough.
