Goodnight anon..

This thread isn't as comfy anymore.. all the American anons went to bed. You're all so rude. I think that's enough for now.

I'm sorry anons I'm trying not to be bitchy it's just frustrating when people think I don't do anything.. I know it's fun to troll and bait me, but I really do try so hard to do everything I possibly can. I come home completely exhausted every night. Just to serve others who might take it completely for granted. Luckily irl this isn't the case.

Like I said, 90% of good service is invisible. Your table is clean because I wiped it down properly. Your drinks remain full because I remembered what you ordered and brought you a refill. Your food came out on time because I did a B line to the POS and entered your order accurately at lightning speed. Your order came out correctly because I noticed a mistake and had the cook fix it before you ever saw. You can talk at a normal volume because I thought to seat you away from a noisy table. I saw you eyeing the dessert menu so I ask before you have to even say anything. You weren't waiting to be sat because I saw you in between bringing food out and sat you. You aren't waiting for the check because I noticed you aren't eating and I've brought you a take-home box too before you ask.

Now I do this with 20 tables at once and I do it while smiling and being friendly as fuck and bantering back at you when you're being cheeky.

I'm sorry the tip dynamic is ingrained in American culture and I don't see it ever changing. Here's how it works, I try my hardest to make your experience the best it can on the hope you leave me a couple bucks so I can pay my rent. If you don't like this I'm sorry you don't have to go out to eat.

America without tipping would go like this;
Food is more expensive, to help pay a decent wage to the server (it's still not good). The service is slow and the waitress is matter of fact and not as friendly. She has no reason to be because no matter what she'll receive the same wage. She does the bare minimum to not get in trouble. In this world nobody is happy. The customer is paying the restaurant more money for worse and slower service. The waitress is getting paid less overall and her effort isn't measured whatsoever.
>>13843780
Yeah cash doesn't have to be reported as long as my charged tips are over 8% of my sales. It's hard to explain, but the laws differ by state. I always get more than 8% so cash is preferred so I don't have to give more money to the government.
>>13843781
Honestly that's fine to me. If everyone did that I'd be happy.
>>13843797
I don't wanna get into an argument over this, but good service is invisible to the customer 90% of the time. I sincerely bust my ass to make sure you have a pleasant dining experience.
>>13843798
Seasoned fries with mayo.. mm. I get 50% off. I try not to order from work that often obviously haha.
>>13843804
I don't expect anything, but I hope I get a tip because my efforts reflect that hope. I try very very hard and my customers tell me all the time.
>>13843810
I earn my tips through my effort. This is the incentive of the job anon. You'd have to dramatically alter all of American culture and history to change this. We live in tipping culture. You give the bartender a couple extra bucks and magically they rush to you the moment your drink is empty.

>>13843719
Hmmm it depends on the bill and how often I am going back and forth to you. 15% is a good tip for most modestly priced bills. Like if it's around 20 bucks and you leave me 3 that's totally fine. If it's getting in the 80 dollar range I don't expect a 20 dollar tip or anything too wild so 10% is more reasonable. Cash is always preferred over charge. I think the perfect tip to me is a 5 dollar bill in cash for a 20-30 dollar meal. They add up quickly if it happens all night long.

Cheap fuck would be if you order 50 dollars worth of shit and leave me 2 bucks. I do remember you if you tip bad.

Oh boy anon this is a little outside my sphere of knowledge. I think lying is a pretty rotten thing to do to someone so I'm not sure what to tell you. You've really worked yourself into a corner. I'd say if you like this man or care about his feelings I'd tell him. If you don't really care about him I guess do what you want.

>> No.13843491 [View]

I can't say I know what it's like for men, but I think we both have unique problems. Life isn't really easy for anyone it's hard and there are lots of challenges we must face. I think as women our value is obviously tied to our looks which might make our lives easier while we're young, but dramatically difficult with age. We live in strange times for sure though. Young women can start an onlyfans and make crazy amount of money. At what cost though? Is money going to make you feel fulfilled and happy? Or just comfortable and lonely. Like they say in the Outsiders, it's rough all over Ponyboy..

There is an overarching corporate policy that they enforce. Stuff like toast is easily subbed for pancakes, a biscuit, etc. There are buttons on our POS that quickly allow us to do this based on policy. Anything that diverges from this we're supposed to say no. It takes more time and you have to type a message to the cook on what's going on. I wouldn't say it's a hassle, but 60 seconds for a waitress is an eternity. I am extremely flexible on these types of things tho if I'm working with a cool cook and most of the time I won't upcharge you unless it's something insane like 'oh can I have tenders instead of toast lol'. Hope that makes sense. I wish the menu was more clear on what's allowed to be subbed. Like nobody knows you can get fries or fruit instead of hashbrowns.
>>13843342
Very carefully. Read her body language to see if she's being nice or reciprocating your flirting. Don't be too needy because she's busy. Leave her your number and a normal tip (too big of tip might come off desperate if you're trying to ask her out).
>>13843347
We got laid off like three days after this policy dw
>>13843353

They were pretty lax thankfully. We just had to wash our hands often and none of the tables can have the condiment caddy. Any condiments brought to the table need to be wiped with sanitizer afterwards. Menus too. It wasn't too bad desu.
>>13843329
Hash browns are easy peasy. Just grate some potato, put butter/oil on a hot griddle and fry it. Press down to crisp up one side and flip. The ideal Denny's hashbrown is crispy side with soft inside. Recommend ketchup on top. Mmmm...

Cooks make more hourly (12 to 15 I think). Servers make the state minimum wage (10 dollars) BUT the tips we make are taken out of our hourly. The intention is of course if we don't make any tips we'll still get minimum. It really depends on your shift. Not gonna like my hourly check is miserable, but I make lots of money in tips and I'm very grateful for that.
>>13843269
So true.
>>13843270
It's crazy stressful. You might get used to it, but you might not. I will say there is a gender bias where men make less in tips overall. Not saying it's fair, but generally that's how it goes. Give it a shot anon you could get into a nice position. Get your time management skills polished because you'll need them when you're juggling tons of tables at once.

They might've just been out that particular night. My Denny's still has the queso. One of the new menu items has it I'm pretty sure. Some kind or Southwest chorizo biscuit with queso.

Also could be the cook messing up lol... happens.
>>13843253
Retail is trash. I used to work it and I'll never do it again. People forced to work with the public should be tipped.
