I sure like it, a couple chocolate habaneros or scotch bonnets is great in a stew or chili. Not just for heat but to add flavor as well.

A roommate used to do that but he'd take my chocolate habaneros to add to it, he was taking so many that I had to hollar at him for that. That situation lasted only as long as necessary before I got my own apartment and didn't have do deal with any roommate.
I didn't mind him using some but he was taking a bunch and they're only available during a short season of the year.

To each our own. I use habaneros instead of thai chilies, not only because they're more available to me but I just like them better, I like the taste and they're hotter.

Chocos, I can get them in NYC at the union square green market for a very short period of time, it varies with the season. A funny thing is that I started a new job one day that was also one of the days to get chocolate habs so I turned down offers to out with my employers for lunch and went straight down and bought bags of these things.

I think that they respected me for doing that because I sure lasted at that company for a while.

I buy huge bunches of them and just bag them in throw them in a freezer. If I buy enough during the season which isn't now in the NE USA then it'll last me a year.

We have to agree to disagree, the best for flavor and heat are chocolate habaneros, all native to the Americas. The stinks from india had nothing to do with it.

I couldn't get chocolate habaneros this year so am relegated to simple scotch bonnets.

Those choco habs are my favorite. They not only are they hot, but their distinctive flavor lasts during cooking. I used to buy the farmers out of them in Union Square farmer's market, the timing on them is really short only a month or so, so I'd buy as many as possible and freeze them so I'd have enough to last a year.

Chocolate habaneros, they have the combination of heat that can last through cooking and not killer heat, but also a really good flavor.

Those look pretty good, I'd put them into a chile, add them when it's about done. I've found over time that the orange habaneros loose their heat and flavor if cooked for a long time.

Interestingly that's not the same for chocolate habaneros. This is the time of the year to get them if you can.

... I'd say add epazote but you're not making black bean soup, though if you're making pinto bean soup that might be a decent addition, I've never tried that with pinto beans but it sounds decent. If you're making soup then blend like 2/3s of them and add that back to the leftover 1/3rd. A bit of cilantro and a habanero works nicely there, chocolate habaneros work great in soups and stews, they have a great flavor.

Look on the bright side, at least you didn't finger your GF and have to hear her hollering at you for a couple days.
Been there done that, it's not fun.
Wanna smell my finger?

Not "extra chocolate" but extra "chocolate habaneros" meaning more of them than the recipe calls for. They just chocolate colored, they have nothing to do with chocolate.

They're just a variety of hot peppers that have a lot of flavor and the flavor and heat lasts through cooking which some really don't.

Pic related are some choc habs.
