My roommate is moving out and taking all of her cookware, dinnerware, utensils etc. with her.

This is the first time since I graduated college and got a real job that I'll need to buy this stuff, so I want to get good shit, but I have to buy literally everything.

Any recommendations on brands? Current plan is to go to Williams-Sonoma and drop a hot grand but I'm picky so I'm probably going to end up buying a lot of shit online.

You can go to Walmart and get a mediocre set of cookware for like 25 bucks. Then over time, replace the shit items with decent ones.

But I'm autistic and want one matching set.

Go to Ikea. Most of my current pots and pans are from there and they're holding up just fine 4 years later, and they were all cheap as hell.
They also have nice cheap pint glasses and plate sets.

That's kind of dumb, unless you value matching over quality/performance. Different brands are best at different types of cookware.

For example, Demeyere makes the best stainless fry pans and conical saucepans. But their straight-sided saucepans are not as good as, say, All-Clad.

I'd also suggest you avoid sets. They usually contain oddball sizes of pan that are kind of dumb to have. Buy just the pieces you need so you don't end up spending $$$ on things you don't use.

Yeah sets are just asking to have things you don't want or crappy but matching versions of thing you do.
