In the country where I live (Norway), the state has a monopoly on alchohol witch makes it pretty expensive.

One liter of the cheapest vodka costs 50 dollars, so if you were to drink a liter a day it would cost you 18250 dollars every year. Keep in mind that the avrage annual salary in 2016 in Norway was 66384 dollars.

Mostly not. Like another anon said, more robust healthcare/mental healthcare is a better way to treat alcoholism (not commenting on Norway's healthcare).

It seems like a bit of a price hike would do *a little* good, but at the same time, true addicts will get it whether it's $20 or $50, it's just a matter of what they have to sacrifice in buying other things. And then people who aren't addicts are getting shafted when they buy.

I'd think it mostly just shifts a little more wealth to the government, rather than significantly reducing alcoholism. Wonder if there's a study out there about this.

The biological imperative to seek out mates is more a male thing than a female thing. It is also more efficient, seeing as once a woman gets impregnated, further sex does absolutely nothing until the nine months are over. A man can continuously impregnate.

Also, glance in this thread. I've seen so many men speak about cheating on their girlfriends, but I have barely seen any talk about unfaithful women.

As a girl, and having dated both men and women, I have found that the men are the more unfaithful and sex-driven. The women are so emotionally invested, and it is a much more fulfilling relationship. With a man, you are pretty much expected to put out after a while or they lose interest. With a woman, you really don't have to.

For the /r9k/ers complaining about women, stop dating/having sex with females. Follow pic related, as it is probably better for you.

>> No.9543913

>>9543896
I don't think It's the man's fault for not wanting you around, That is usually something the woman has done/is doing that makes us not want to be around you.

For instance-

I left my ex because she was clingy after about 6 months. Constantly touching me or talking to me while I'm busy....Women need constant attention, They are like children. You have to talk to them and treat them almost just like children

>> No.9543920

>>9543913
That is what I mean though. Men like space unless they are horny or on the off-chance they want affection, which is hard to gauge. With a woman, I can just cuddle all day and be as lovey as I want. It is a purer form of love, and not just a convenient situation to sate lust or boost self-esteem.

I can see how women would want to date other women. They all seem to want more affection then men typically can give, I don't think I've ever dated a woman who would kiss me once or twice all day then not bother me when I'm busy or be nagging on me or just constantly touching me while I'm watching TV or something. They almost remind me of a cat and how a cat constantly wants to be touching you, Even if you continue to push it away it will get as close to you as you allow it.

With that all being said I still would prefer the nagging and emotional games of a woman then to have sex with a man. I guess some people can go from women to guys and back again but I just cannot touch a man, Nothing about a man is attractive or sexy to me.

So until they can perfect the brain transplant I'm SOL.

You make a good point. I think the issue for me is that; for so many of these activities, the documentation and social media sharing is the goal. Some of these people would not even do what they're doing if not for social media.

I don't hate the people who participate in this behavior but I do reject doing it myself.

As someone who hasn’t posted a FB status since 2013, but still has an account for organising events and for Messenger, in my experience that’s not an accurate generalisation to make. These people definitely exist, but most people posting about their nights out are just shooting the shit the same way you might bring up what a great time you had on the weekend when you get to work on a Monday.

Personally I have no problem with people posting photos of social functions/memories, etc. The behaviour I find odd is using Facebook to post opinions and diatribes and jokes you came up with as statuses because it seems almost like taking advantage of a captive audience, but even then that’s assuming everyone wants the same thing out of Facebook that I do so I try to ignore it.

That said Facebook really is the bottom tier of social media platforms and doesn’t promote interesting content in the slightest.

I dislike the disturbing pervasiveness and ubiquity of social media, especially considering very you children are being reared in this lifestyle. I got rid of Facebook at least 5-6 years ago and have never owned a cell phone before.

It makes life a bit less convenient, more so now that I am an early-career professional. People used to think it was cool I didn't have a cell phone, not anymore - I think they wonder what is wrong with me, if I'm a friendless weirdo, unabomber, etc.

Despite my rather strong opinions on social media and the pathologically narcissistic behavior of documenting one's life like they are a reality star, I keep them to myself. People can do whatever they want, it's no skin off my back, and I'm not going to be some silent bitter weirdo brooding while others have fun. Especially since a lot of the people complaining about others having vapid fun are essentially wasting their youth shitposting on an ephemeral message board, with nothing to show for it but lost time and unrealized experiences.

This is why I’m skeptical of staunchly anti social media proponents. I do wonder how kids growing up on it will turn out though and I’m grateful I got a good amount of growing up in before it really took hold.

Not the guy you're replying to, but seeking treatment of any kind as an addict is rough in a lot of the US. 30 day in-patient treatment is like $3200 around here, and most insurance won't even cover that. Out-patient programs that run for 3 or 4 months run like $75 1on1, $30 1.5 hour group sessions.

Doctors aren't great with anything regarding opioids, beyond the first prescription ranging from 5-30 days. Nothing with codeine is OTC here.
