>bread box being lawful good

Not if you don't fucking clean it. I would much rather take bread directly from the packaging than putting it in a grotty box full of stale crumbs and sin.

>> No.9292902

>>9292830
I was thinking the same, but if the base of the bread box is completely flat with no holes in which to allow crums, ideally if the bottom edges around the base is curved instead of cornered, then it would make cleaning a simple matter. In fact if you like, every time you use up the last slice or two of the bread box, bring it to the sink, tilt it, and shake it. Most of the crums would likely come out just from doing that, and if not then use a lightly damp cloth or paper towel. Then leave the bread box open, let it air dry (not that it would be particularly wet from a LIGHTLY damp cloth or towel) so that the next time you want bread you're all set to take a couple slices directly out of the bag and put the rest of it in the aforementioned box.

if the box has, like, grates/holes in it as well as sharp corners that would make it difficult to get ALL bits of bread out, potentially allowing for mold... then yeah, nah, just stick with the bag. Wooden bread boxes would look far better, but I think plastic bread boxes would be best. Light, cost efficient, easy to make rounded corners, and basically zero chance of small holes or sharp corners in the base unless it's made that way by design for some retarded reason. All in all, I think using a bread box would be the best choice, unless bread lasts longer bagged in the fridge rather than sitting at room temperature in a box. I have to go with whatever will make it last, even though a bag of bread probably only last me a week. I enjoy toast in the mornings and occasionally make sandwiches for dinner or supper.

>> No.9292938

>>9292902
Crumbs, etc, does not cause mold. Mold is caused by having excess moisture.

That's the whole point of a wooden breadbox. Wood is not airtight, it can absorb and release moisture. That keeps your bread at an ideal humidity level. It's enclosed enough to slow down staling, but it's not so sealed that it traps moisture and creates mold.

A plastic breadbox would be awful because plastic doesn't absorb moisture or "breathe".

>> No.9292961

>>9292938
Fair point, though you can easily bore some holes into it to prevent it from being airtight to promote 'breathing'.As for not absorbing moisture... what about putting a paper towel down for the bread to rest on? Paper towel absorbs moisture like a mother-fucker.

Fresh off the boat, from reddit, kid? heh I remember when I was just like you. Braindead. Lemme give you a tip so you can make it in this cyber sanctuary: never make jokes like that. You got no reputation here, you got no name, you got jackshit here. It's survival of the fittest and you ain't gonna survive long on 4chan by saying stupid jokes that your little hugbox cuntsucking reddit friends would upboat. None of that here. You don't upboat. You don't downboat. This ain't reddit, kid. This is 4chan. We have REAL intellectual discussion, something I don't think you're all that familiar with. You don't like it, you can hit the bricks on over to imgur, you daily show watching son of a bitch. I hope you don't tho. I hope you stay here and learn our ways. Things are different here, unlike any other place that the light of internet pop culture reaches. You can be anything here. Me ? heh, I'm a judge.. this place.... this place has a lot to offer... heh you'll see, kid . . . that is if you can handle it..

There's unsliced bread in bags in Canada, but that's more expensive than the pre-sliced stuff. I always go for what's cheapest because I'm on a tight budget. Two loaves for $4 instead of $2.50-3.00 each. For home-style bread I think that's actually $3.50 a piece, nearly twice as expensive.

how much of your diet is bread though? Why be cheap with it if you're eating that much. Is 4 extra dollars not worth enjoying your sandwiches or toast that much more? If you're just eating it compulsively to fill some dietary quota why not just eat a staple grain?

I'm essentially an alcoholic, I basically always go for sales and deals so that I won't have to worry about running out of both alcohol and money, but I've been cutting down and I'm REALLY good with money so I've been doing quite well. Generally I have toast for breakfast every morning and also sometimes have sandwiches for dinner, especially when I've made hummus. I think I finish a loaf of bread basically within a week. When I do groceries in two day's time, I think I'll get three loaves, and it'll probably all be eaten by the time September comes around. I'd rather pay $6 for three loaves instead of $5-6 for two loaves. Besides, I always use either peanut butter, jam, cheese whiz, or hummus so the flavour of the bread itself isn't really a huge thing. Ultimately however I'd love to get a bread maker so I can just make my own. Even cheaper, and probably also more healthy.

Its acceptable for small traditional bakeries in France and Germany however.

have you tried baking bread? The "5 minute artisan bread" meme does work and is rather cost effective if you buy bulk yeast. Kneading the dough can be a pain but if you do large enough batches you'll only be kneading dough like every 6 or 7 days. You just pinch off a ball bake it. Modifications to temp and time can make large changes in it's consistency. Can even make pitas with it.

I never was a "bread" person until I ate this bread. I can literally eat sandwiches for the rest of my life with this bread. If you don't keep it in the fridge it molds really quickly though. If I lose the tie then I go twist and tuck.
