So my family is from Nebraska. I was surprised with how good the BBQ was there when I visited. We went to a place that I thing was called Grease Row. It was run by the fattest black guy I've ever seen.

He was super nice too, came out and talked to my old man while we were eating, asked how our food was, and talked about the local area. Apparently he and my old man actually went to the same highschool.

The best thing I had there was spicy sausages, the guy made them there and they were solid. Apparently the recipe was something his grandmother taught him. Besides that the stand outs were the brisket and some fucking amazing baked beans.

yes, humanizing them is abuse, but so is shoing them and using bit and bridles, as well as using excessive pressure when it is not needed. Do you see those things in the wild? do you see horses crawl into seperate bushes at night for 10 hours a day? Horses are herd animals. they shouldn't be locked up in seperate cages, it ruins their socialization and makes them more prone to certain illnesses and undesirable behaviors and agressiveness. Babying a horse is just as bad as the "Traditional" horse keeping method.

Lived in the Shakleford banks for a while, wild horses gallop everywhere and are dangerous as fuck, most of them ill/full of parasites, some lame...to the extent of death by starvation. Wild horses have shorter lifespans than domesticated/broken horses.

Factually speaking the ONLY species that lives longer in the wild than in captivity are Great whites, that die very fast after captivation.

Horses also taste great, lovingly tenderizng a horse with your porksword before slaughter just adds to the flavor to savor.

horses in the wild have to compete for resources and mates while fending off dangers. they don't get fed how we would feed them, don't get treatments for illnesses, and don't get trained to relax instead of panic when a thing happens. Meanwhile, in derbies, horses barely ever live to adulthood before their sold off for the slaughter, ridden to uselessness and then sold to be killed elswhere.

If you invested THIS much emotion into the homeless population, the world would be a significantly better place to live. The ONLY people who humanize animals and care more about them, are social outcasts that people don't like. You probably DO fuck your horse. Sicko.

A track or circus has constantly level ground and protection from the elements, whereas in nature the surroundings are constantly changing. Drought alone can kill a harass of horses, let alone access to adequate sustenance and shelter.

Wild horses have a significantly lower quality of life outside of a controlled environment. Considering 99% of ANYTHING that's ever lived on Earth is now extinct (without mans intervention or influence) it's safe to say that we as people preserve more species than we displace and ultimately drive into extinction.

domestication is only the process of making an animal fit for human use, it does not extend life spans because it is contingent on us providing for the animal in question.

you are objectively wrong and you don't own horses. Right, because you can't. I've personally lived on an island populated by nothing but wildlife and tourist groups while working for the NPS. Wild horses are sickly and violent due to said sicknesses. Their lives are infinitely better in captivity.

That being said, I must repeat the fact that you caring more about lesser beings instead of other people signifies how truly pathetic your life actually is, and CERTAINLY indicates your solitude. Jilted women are awful...

I live in Harlem and Dino BBQ is ok. I grew up with my dad smoking pork shoulders Carolina-style. My family is from Tennessee, so I'm not sure what would make NYers think their bbq is comparable to the places in the country that are actually famous for it. I crave my dad's bbq since moving to the city, and it's really one of the only things that I can't get here in Manhattan or at least the rest of the city. That's ok though, pretty much everything else is at my fingertips here.

My dad doesn't really make TN style bbq, but was in close proximity to Carolina style and good pork bbq in general. He usually just smoked it with a dry rub, pulled it, and put it on a bun with a pickle. Didn't really need sauce because it was pretty moist, we used to argue over who got the ends and the bark. He ocasionally made a simple kind of sauce from the drippings, but it wasn't sweet, thick, or have ketchup in it. He did put some vinegar in it, but I wouldn't call it vinegary like a lot of Carolina style sauces are.

He started doing beef when he moved out to California. His brisket has started getting pretty good these days.

You could say the same thing about any food in NYC, we have something from everywhere, sometimes it's great, sometimes it's just mediocre. If you're reasonably selective you can always have the "great" but some people, including locals, are satisfied with mediocre

Our best BBQ is not "authentic" but it's still very good. Try Blue Smoke or Hill Country, much better than shitty ass Dinosaur
