The alternative is don't eat rice. Brown rice isn't amazingly healthy either, better to just eat quinoa and barley.

There is a hack for reducing caloric intact of white rice though which involves coconut oil and refridgerating it.

Soak your brown rice a few hours before cooking
Ideally all day, put a bowl out to soak in the morning if you're cooking it for supper

Or just use the brown rice setting on your rice cooker

Brown rice goes rancid really fast, it's a fact that most people have never had good brown rice as it needs to be consumed within a year of harvest, preferably less, and warm temperatures can shorten this life considerably.

Also, people tend to cook it as though it was white rice, resulting in an unpleasant texture.

My rice cooker has a brown rice setting and it comes out perfect. You have to use a bit more liquid than white rice, though. We buy it by the 50lb bag but keep all but 5lbs of it in a freezer so we never have an issue with it being rancid. Plus we eat a lot of it.
