I'm getting a bowling ball oven soon, and I'm wondering if I could also use it for cooking applications. Primarily, I'd like to try doing a reverse sear type thing. Almost like sous vide without water. I actually have never tried doing a reverse sear, but because the temp is fairly precise and very low (pic related goes 105-165), it should be pretty good at it, right?

Also, since this is a bowling ball oven, there may be tiny traces of dirt and mineral oil left in it. But wrapped up in foil or something, it shouldn't be an issue I wouldn't think?

That sounds great actually. I'll try that before I dirty it up

Lol, what the fuck is a bowling ball oven. Do Americans really do this? Just put a bowling ball in a normal oven.
