Newfag here. What is medium low/medium high heat? I can't tell what that means on my stove.

>> No.8354772

Medium low is just above medium and just below medium high
Medium high is just above medium low but not too far above medium
Medium is just below medium low and just above low medium

So since medium is 5(?),medium low would be what, 6? Or is that wrong?

>> No.8354803

>>8354798
sorry, I meant medium low.

>> No.8354838

>>8354798
No, medium low is just above low high (which is low). It's not quite medium, though. And it's below soft medium.

>> No.8354845

You look at the flame, not the numbers; the numbers are completely irrelevant.

It's an electric stove.

In that case,

experiment with them: all stoves are different.

you should never use hi unless you are boiling water.

8-10 searing meats
6-7 country omelettes, and bacon, burgers
5 fish, bread, stirfries
3-4 sauteing vegetables, breaking down onions or mushrooms
1~2 reducing sauces, bachemels
LO keeping soups/sauces warm

>5 fish, bread, stirfries

First off, who the fuck makes bread on a stove?

Second, remind me never to try a stir fry made by you.

I've been using 5 burgers, and it always cooks unevenly (Outsides are burned is inside undercooked). Do you think 6 would make a difference?

sandwiches

also great contribution to the thread you niggerlover

>>8354928
Someone had to tell you that you were making stir fry wrong.

>> No.8354970

>>8354936

I don't make gook food, and a stir fry to me is basically a bunch of random shit that needs to be heated up. 5 heat is right in the middle just like last night when your mom was in the middle between me and a cool black guy named Chase

>> No.8354994

>>8354970
I know Chase personally, this did happen, and this guy is right. You don't need high heat unless you're using a wok

>> No.8354999

>>8354914
You have to lower the heat if the heart is undercooked when the outside is.
You can sear at high temperature, then reduce.

>medium - smoking oil with the force of 1000 suns
>lowest as possible without it turning off - smoking oil with the force of 1000 suns

Then you shouldn't be trying to cook.
