These fucking things were my only source of protein when I was practically homeless. I swear they were always on sale, and only about $3.00 a bag. As a kid I always wanted to eat nothing but meatballs for dinner, so I got my wish for a while.

Now that I have a real adult job, and my own house, I try to eat higher quality stuff, but I'm gonna be honest, every once in a while, I crave the nostalgia and just chow down on like 30 of these, because they remind me of not going hungry.

As a brit who likes curry but now eats Japanese curry the most I don't really understand this.

Blander is a subjective measure and not all curries are spicy. A Japanese curry can be spicier than many types of Indian mild curries and it can also be less bland depending on how you make it. Japanese curry isn't just a monolith there are different prep ways/additions and heat levels.

Either way it generally has a certain "taste" to me it tastes like "curry" as in if i ordered the generic one from an Indian or the stuff you get to dip chips in. That curry taste is actually pretty good so I think it makes sense that a dish is based around it.

The problem with a lot of instant ramen brands is that they taste rather insubstantial and/or they leave behind a weird aftertaste.

Shin Ramyun is pretty good, it's nice and spicy and goes really well with egg, they tend to sell out pretty quickly around where I live. I generally don't bother with other brands.
