How the fuck do I learn to cook? Do cookbook and YouTube shit until I get the hang of it? Learn the actual ways to cook shit and the technical stuff? While I'm here, is this board any good? Took a quick look, saw a tripfag or two, and a lot of shitposting. Like, porn board level shitposting. Have some weebshit since it seems to trigger some of you.

if you can't cook by the time you're a full-grown adult, just give up. you'll never cook.

We don't hate anime, we just hate the content of some images. Take yours for example, that is very dangerous to do and will most likely end up with hot oil on your face if you do that. Also this >>7009474

Like everything else, man. Do it, and do it again. Practice.

Don't learn all the theory in big chunks, just make stuff you like. You'll get the hang of things.

Also that's really cute, who is that?

I just haven't ever actually tried anything beyond eggs, and lretty plain rice, stuff like that. I guess I meant as more of a how to git gud at cooking, more than how to at all. I can be pretty retarded, but I'm not some deformed retard who cant count. Granted I don't know how far off I am, but still. I can into cereal real good good tho.

Just follow some recipes until you get the hang of basic things like soups, how to grill/bake meats and fish, saute vegetables, what seasonings to use, and after a while you won't need recipes anymore. You'll be able to figure out what goes well with what. You can do it OP.

It's mostly about practice. Learn to cook simple stuff like omelets and move up from there. Also, this board is shit. It's full of people who don't know anything about cooking emphatically shouting misinformation at one another.

Easiest way is to cook something simple first, from there work your way up by learning through recipe or just experiment by yourself.

Eat your result, no matter how it tastes

The board is like 95% shitposting alcoholics, but there are pockets of actual cooking.

It's slow as hell so you don't get the massive back and forth autistic arguments as often as usual, so when it happens it's almost a novelty. Last one I remember was a bump limit thread raging about perpetual stews.

How do you get to the part where you don't need to follow recipes?

>> No.7010161

>>7010128
You learn processes, how individual ingredients need to be cooked, and flavours that work together. Then you combine those things.

You either learn all that by gradually picking it up from recipes, or by actually studying from the ground up using books or classes.

Watch a shitton of cooking show for simple facts/techniques. I always loved cooking but I got my knowledge from 24Kitchen and Jaimie Oliver tbrqh. It sound ridiculous but it helped me a lot and it also gives you inspiration.

Then there is experience in e.g. the size in which you cut ingredients for different purposes, adjusting your fire etc.

In the end you can make it as hard as you want

Find a recipe you want to use, look up a video or something if you are unsure about something and the rest is trial and error with some personal tastes thrown in. Somebody had to come up with the recipe in the first place and there are a hundred variations to each recipe you can find in books, videos and whatnot so don't be afraid that anons will crawl through the ether to hit you with frying pans if you add or remove something from the recipe.

That's a good strategy. Get a good cookbook and follow it to the letter.

>> No.7010312

You don't want a recipe book, you want a book that goes into how ingredients work and their flavor profiles. Once you know how things taste you can work out combinations to make flavorful dishes.

To learn how to paint you wouldn't just buy a paint by numbers book, you'd learn techniques and go from there and make your own style.

Remember, cooking is an art, baking is a science.

I taught myself to cook by looking for a recipe I liked (i chose curry) and then making it using different ingrediants a fair few times to understand how it works together, then did it again with another recipe (bolognese) that's how I learnt about spices and meat/veg combinations and cooking styles ,

Think about cooking for a second friend and think about food.

What do you like to eat? What's in it?

I like to eat spaghetti and meatballs. Spaghetti and meatballs is 3 parts sauce meatballs and pasta. I can buy pasta in store and boil it so that's covered. Tomato sauce has mirepoix inside aka onions, garlic possibly celery and carrots I do add all 4 and canned tomato sauce.

Saute = lightly fry your mirepoix until onions clear add canned tomato sauce add salt and pepper to taste then put on low for 3 hours mix every 30 minutes.

Meatballs ground beef salt pepper egg thyme basil parsley paprika and breadcrumbs combine make into balls brown all sides finish in the sauce you are stewing.

Cook pasta on time on bag plate it and add sauce and meatballs.

Looks extensive but all you are really doing is cutting up garlic onions, carrots cooking them for 2 minutes adding canned sauce and leave it on low. You are also throwing a pack of ground beef on a bowl seasoning it then mixing it then cooking for 3 minutes and cooking in a sauce then cooking pasta in water then mixing 3 together.

Its easy anon most cooking is nearly the same but with more prep. Add a salad chop lettuce onions tomatoes and use a vinaigrette and mix. Add garlic bread butter and chopped garlic in a small sauce pan cook on med for 2 minutes spread on bread throw into broiler.

Unless you are retarded scratch that retards, people with epilespy 1 hand and people who shake uncontrollably can also cook. If you apply yourself and follow instructions and watch a couple of videos of the general process you can cook anon.

Gods speed friend

The only thing you need to know is how each ingredient reacts to 1) heat and 2) moisture and what they look/feel/taste/smell like when they're done. Just follow recipes and gradually you'll pick up on what goes good together and how each individual thing needs to be prepared.

Start with
-soups
-stir-fry
-fried rice
-casseroles

Learn to cook pasta/noodles and how to cook bacon properly. Make your own burger patties. Try and discover new things as you go along.

Good luck fren
