Which is a better method? Budget not an issue. I have a French Press and I like the Subtly of the tastes. Pour over is kind of the trendy way of doing right now so there must be something better about it?

It's the subtlety of the taste that makes pourover more appealing. Depending on the method, you can get a very 'clean' tasting cup of coffee. The feel of it is hard to explain, but the flavours of the bean are very pronounced and refreshing. French press tend to feel 'heavier' in a way. Both are great as long as you are using good, freshly ground beans.

I use a blonde coffee for my french press, so maybe thats the confusion. Other than that thanks for the uncontribution.

i like to make pour overs. usually i brew on a kalita wave. i prefer the lighter body and cleaner cup but french press is still nice.

Ya i like a richer body more pronounced taste, so you recommend I stay with a french press with maybe a french roast or Full city?

if you like body i'd stick in the full city/full city+ range. once you start getting into french roast you start to lose body. if french press is what you like stick with it but if you ever get a chance to have a pour over you should try it. there's a few different kinds of pour over brewers to try. coffee has so many variables and it gets me so pumped to mess with all of them.

Better is an illusion.

Pour overs
+ clean cup oils tend to be the biggest variable and pour overs will bloat out volatile oils
+ light cup. The water is thoroughly passed through air so the entire drink has this lightly airy feeling as well as the lack of oils mentioned above
- Removes complexity from many coffees may present usually only gets acid flavors and maybe some sugars never to dry distillation hence the clean cup

French press.
+ expresses all the oils and volatilizes of a coffee
+ full expression up to dry distillation

- Dissolves ultra fine particles contributing to bitter over complex taste.

Pour overs have better consistency and are single serve which is why they are so popular today. French presses tend to be used very poorly made contributing to the negative image they have.

To make a better french press remember 1: grind should look like thick kosher salt and with minimal fines 2: time the coffee properly

Pour over try to follow these tips 1: grind of turbinado(?) sugar 2:pour the water slowly and gently if the water is making a hole through the coffee your fucking up.

Aero press is good but don't be to wooed by it
Realistically vacuum pot has the most control over brewing conditions so if anything is best that might be
