So one of these is being built near where I live, first in the area.

What should I expect once it's up and running?

Avoid it all, cook at home. It's basically the McDonaldized Americanized Chinese food. It's sugar dolloped on microwave food.

slightly better than mall food court Chinese. not great, but not terrible. Almost every local place around here is better

FUCK ALL THE FAGGOTS IN THIS THREAD

I was fuckign SICK to detah of US food and then I had panda and it reminded that some cheap fast food places can be fucking tasty.

get a 2 entrée meal of half chowmein and half fried rice. get the orange chicken (freshest is best) and their mandarin or whatever chicken. get their weird peach green tea and absolutely get some ragoons. enjoy that fuckign fortune cookie and be happy that America has taken some pride in their diversity by Americanizing some Chinese food.

you a dick sucking little faggot if you get buttmad that it isn't real Chinese.
|its just fuckign tasty Chinese inspired American shit.

panda expres sis good as fuck, and I would know because I'm not some tendies eating piece of shit coke chugger

It's honestly the worst americanized chinese food there is. I really love some of the gloppy shit they make for americans, but if there is no alternate menu for real china people that is a warning sign

It's seriously the worst Chinese place in the world. I love American style Chinese food. But if you think panda express is making anything good your opinion is dogshit. Go to a decent place and order the same thing you get at PE and realize how ignorant you are

"Authentic Chinese food" is a misnomer because the majority of Chinese food is just a bunch of poor-ass street vendors deep frying anything they can put together and selling it to poor workers on their lunch break.

I don't know how it is in the rest of the US, but Panda Express is not even Americanized here in California, its mexicanized. Literally over half their menu is some sort of Mexican take on Chinese food. Lots of jalapenos and spicy Mexican bullshit thrown in.

That sounds pretty good honestly.

I know I will never taste real chinese shit until I go there. But I like freedom so it's probably not safe for me.

Instead, find a hole in the wall with ok reviews. Guaranteed to be better. Not to mention probably cheaper.

It's decent "Americanized" Chinese food. The orange chicken is pretty good.
Just don't go there expecting anything authentic.

I hope you all snap your necks falling off your high horses. There is nothing wrong with Panda Express, and I get sick of all the self righteous Asians pricks and hipsters bashing the chain and the US. A lot of "authentic" Chinese in China Towns taste like fermented cat meat.

Not true at all. Just look at all the Asians dressed up like they're black. Most immigrant families in the US within a generation are striving to appear authentic. The entire hipster movement is a desire to appear authentic while being nothing but a pampered middle class waste.

Asian Chef here. I fucking hate the cultural Impact that Panda Express has on American food. I work at a Thai restaurant that serves Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken alongside real, traditional Thai food. I feel fucking disgusted everytime I have to make some divey Chinese bullshit but the owner insists that it's so popular with the patron's children that it would be bad for business for us to stop serving it.
Every time I make Kung Pao Chicken I feel like I'm giving up a piece of my soul.

At least Kimchi is a respectable food, even if it isn't strictly Japanese. We have a sushi bar at my Thai restaurant, and it doesn't bother me to see the sushi chefs work as much as it bothers me to make the fucking sauce for Orange Chicken.
This is a decent restaurant but holy fuck I want to get out of it. I don't want to work for a place where children have this much control over the food that I, a professional who is fucking educated, has to make.
Pic related, I'm trying so hard to get into this restaurant you have no idea.

Good luck anon. I've worked in the service industry for about a year after high school and I can somewhat empathize with how you feel. My only suggestion is that you find a place that puts an emphasis on the quality of its food rather than the quantity of its profits, if you get what I mean. And yes I know kiddie meals are an absolute ripoff, but restaurants that cater to families can attract a larger customer base. The places I used to work at were all about the profits, which is why I bailed ASAP.

Yeah, I actually have eaten at the restaurant that I'm trying to switch to. They're way more busy, but don't compromise to pander for customers with kids. It just goes to show what the long-term benefits of running a restaurant that actually respects itself is.

Oh yeah it's delicious but again it would be like a Chinese guy visiting a tailgate party and thinking that's what all American food tastes like. I agree that most Chinese food historically was made by peasants for peasants, but there are also more lavish dishes that are surprisingly good. Try to attend a Chinese wedding banquet if you ever get the chance. I've been to a few and tried things that I never imagined I'd eat, such as stewed sea cucumber, abalone with tangerine peel, the swim bladder of a fish etc. and they were all surprisingly good.
