I don't watch TV. It's because I'm poor though, not because I'm a hipster. I am a hipster though.

Yeah I only know about him because of /ck/

I grew up without television. I realize that's a criminal offence [sic] in the UK and the government sends you threatening letters if you fail to watch teletubbies like a good subject.

But here in America it's allowed.

no it's for all tv

>As a general rule, if you’re watching a programme on a computer or other device at the same time as it’s being shown on TV, then the programme is “live” so you need a TV licence. If you use the live rewind function to restart a live programme or rewind a live stream for up to 2 hours, you also need a TV licence. This is because you’re still accessing the live simulcasts. Most UK households will already be covered by an existing TV licence for their main TV set.

You're required to watch programming as it is broadcast, otherwise you will be interviewed under caution
>>6854300
All the stations

They have vans that scan for houses with no television, it is technically allowed but you are required to have an inspection every 6 months to explain why

>> No.6854545

>>6854374
These vans sound like bullshit... Receiving a broadcast signal is completely passive. Maybe they could use parabolics to listen and then determine you are watching TV, but my guess is the van is just a rolling billboard to spook people, and the inspections are just based on whoever didn't pay.

We have something like that here with car insurance. If you suddenly don't have insurance, the state gets cc'd when the insurance company sends you a reminder to pay on else.

This really is some faggot shit either way. I couldn't imagine laying up for an inspection twice a year.

Maybe a CRT, LCD does not emit radiation.

I'll look into it a bit more, I'm very curious now. I'm still suspecting something very basic like confirming that the house is indeed occupied, assuming they are humans and therefore at least one of them watches asslloads of TV.

Don't feel bad though... Idiots around me pay almost the same amount every month for TV and it is absolutely rife with commercials and horseshit programming that would make you want to gargle drain cleaner if it your only option.
